Try to delete the LaTeXiT's oreferences (Library/Preferences/fr.). If you first installed TexShop, then LaTeXiT, then LaTeX, the path detected by LaTeXiT may point to some pdflatexc inside TeXShop which is not enough. I have installed LaTeX correctly but LaTeXiT seems not to work anyway. Long answer … see the "Install LaTeX" section withing the LaTeXiT documentation.

Where to find pdflatex, dvipdf and Ghoscript to install them ? Short answer : MacTeX. However, you should at least check the hash key associated to the download. You can disable Gatekeeper or make an exception to allow LaTeXiT to launch once. Thus you have no choice but trust me if I say that LaTeXiT is harmless. One must know that such a registration costs money each year, and does not suit free software very well.

MacOS prevents LaTeXiT from launching, telling that the developer is not "identified" MacOS 10.9 Mavericks introduced "Gatekeeper", a safeguard to prevent the launch of "suspicious" applications. LaTeXiT's native language is indeed declared as French, and it appears that if that language is not explicitely declared in the System Preferences, it is used above all settings, even the current System language. The behaviour of MacOS is rather dumb on that point. Then, LaTeXiT should use the English version.
